With the advent of the World Wide Web, the concept of “neighborhood” is no longer limited to a geographically localized community. Rather, it’s global. On any given day I can—and do—communicate with Ted in New Zealand, Terrill in Canada, Sandi in Georgia, and many others as if we were having a conversation over the back fence.
With that in mind, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce 5 of the most recent additions to my blogroll—my internet neighborhood. I hope you’ll go knock on their doors and extend each of them a hearty welcome.

Now we can travel the world in less then 80 minutes instead of 80 days.
We can converse, research, view, experience the life and cultures of others from the comfort of our own homes.
Yet I still believe that there is nothing better then to visit new lands, involved ones in other culture…
Thank you for the many links to wonderful creative people, a few are already on my blog roll, some are new to me so thank you!
Jeff
Jeff – Your comment is like a ray of sunshine here in rainy (really rainy) Crystal Lake, Illinois. Thank you!
So honored to be mentioned on your blog, Laurie! Really brightened my day, drawing the sun around us all. The “neighborhood” concept, you’re right, has taken on new meaning. And I’m glad to be in your neighborhood and truly value the lovely spiritual connections made possible via technology.
Thank you again for mentioning SunnyRoomStudio — the birds are out and the flowers are blooming!
With heart,
Daisy
Daisy – It’s a great pleasure to introduce your blog–SunnyRoomStudio— to my other blogging neighbors. Thank you for stopping by with a cheery hello 🙂
Laurie it has been such a pleasure to be just on the other side of the global community fence from you for so many years! I have lost track of how many but it has been a long while now.
Good of you to introduce some new arrivals on over on your end of the street. Always a pleasure to make new friends.
As always, have a wonderful day! Terrill
Terrill – Yes, it’s been a good long while. I moved into the original Gaia neighborhood–Zaads–back in December of 2006, where you extended me a warm welcome, and we’ve been visiting over the back fence ever since. And I agree with you wholeheartedly–it’s always a pleasure to make new friends 🙂
A very interesting collection of neighbours–indeed. I think much is to be gained when all see the invisible link that connects me to you. : )
Leanne – I’m so glad you popped in over here because it’s the perfect opportunity to let everyone know to BE SURE to visit your blog–The Sweater Curse–to see that I was one of two people who won your short story contest–whoohoo!
Isn’t life in the 21st century GRAND!! I mean I remember breathlessly waiting for the postman to get news of relatives less than 200 miles away. Or how about the 3 minute Sunday phone calls, when the rates were low!!
The world wide web has changed all that for the better. AND it can get be a jungle out there if you don’t have an introduction to whose who by a trusted connection.
I love meeting new people and am a huge fan of world travel. Thanks Laurie for weaving we into your cyber tapestry – it’s an honor to be included in your blog roll:)
Alison – Life is GRAND, indeed! Like you, I love to travel and meet new people. I’m tickled to be able to point my cyber neighbors to your doorstep 🙂
Thank you for the connections – I will come back and check everyone out…I have been to Sam’s wonderful blog already so I know they are good folks in the neighborhood – and with your recommendation Voila!
Patricia – I’m glad you’re going to go visiting as time permits. And it’s great to know that you’ve already met Sam. Thank you for your visit today, I always appreciate seeing you here.
Hi, Laurie — it is always nice to meet kindred spirits and find new places to visit. We have such an opportunity to connect here in blogland. I have met and connected with people who I never would have known otherwise. I love your neighborhood.
Barbara – I love the adjective you used, “kindred spirits.” That’s exactly it!
It’s a beautiful world indeed. We’ve all expanded outwards to all corners of the globe. Looks like you’ve found some new interesting blogs to read. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Kathy – I know that you’ll enjoy visiting each of the blogs I’ve listed. I find them to be much like yours–positive, uplifting, constructive, and healing.
Like my Aunt Alice used to say, “Gospeling over the fence. It’s all true!” I’ve met so many wonderful people from all over the world, friends of the heart, I may never see them face to face, but they touch me just the same!
Sandi – I like your Aunt Alice’s saying, that’s great! Barbara used a great adjective, “kindred spirits,” and yours, “friends of the heart” is fantastic too!
A lovely close-to-Spring morning in northern Illinois, though sad to say we are having a dogged “winter mix” spoiling our Wednesday here in the NYC/northern New Jersey area. But just seeing this photo and taking in this acute aspect of blogging you nurture here, I feel like spring is indeed around the corner. Having friends in Japan, Chile, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (not to mention a number of others in domestic locations within the US) was the result of this amazing (relatively new) invention called the internet, and my deepest thanks to you Laurie for including me in your special circle of friends. Meeting you and Terrill were two of the great moments have experienced on-line.
Sam – I’m so glad you stopped by today. The photograph in this post was taken about a week (or so) ago during a wonderful break in weather. Today, ours is behaving much like you described yours. But I, too, know that spring is just around the corner–whoohoo!–and I can hardly wait!
Blog Neighbors – I’d like to invite you all over to Alison Elliot’s post–Energy Infusion 9.0 – Using The Energy Of The Quake To Make The Movie Of Your Life A Smash Hit–at Life by Design with Alison, where she’s just launched a series on deepening our connection with each other as one unified force for good moving us forward.
I grew up in a small village in rural India and have travelled wide and far,it is nice to feel interconnected in this pleasant neighbourhood and learn and grow at the same time.
thanks,Laurie
Roamer – Well hello there, it’s so good to see you! You’re absolutely right, we do “learn and grow” from each other 🙂
Delightful! I love being able to communicate so freely. Although I have to say it is very awesome to still get a note or card in the mail still. There is a little bit of old fashioned in me. Just got an invite to my grand nephew’s 2nd birthday party. He’s so cute I want to squish his cheeks!
We’ve just had a beautiful day in Kaikoura. We had the 100th anniversary of the Kaikoura Golf club, with over a hundred on the course for a shotgun start at 11:15 this morning.
Later I came home and then went out for a walk around the end of the peninsula with some friends from Wellington, and two friends of theirs from Canada, and had a great couple of hours exploring the local wildlife, along the cliff tops, then back along the sea shore.
Then home to prepare dinner for Jewelia and myself, as Ailsa was out performing at a wedding.
Also time online in 3 different communities.
So a very interesting day, in all “neighbourhoods” – one of many communities, and many different sorts of action.
Ted – Your day of celebration at the golf club, followed by a tramp with friends, sounds wonderful! At some point, and if she’s willing, I hope you’ll do a brief clip of Ailsa playing the piano and either share it with us on your blog, or on YouTube. Thank you for stopping by today, it’s good to see you.
