Life’s Nectar – Enjoy it Down to the Last Drop

Last week I had breakfast with my friend and phenomenal artist, Donna Jill Witty. Afterward—just a short walk away—I got a tour of her painting studio. Located in the lofty regions of a historic building, circa mid-1800‘s, it has at-least-20-foot ceilings and a massive 12-or more-foot window. If I had her view, my nose would stay pressed to the glass all day and I’d never get anything done!

Walking back to our cars I took some photos of this bee extracting nectar from a purple cone flower—echinacea. Head burrowed for maximum pleasure, it didn’t mind as I inched closer with each shot. On my drive home, I wondered about the difference between nectar and honey…

…bees produce honey from nectar they harvest. Nectar is produced directly by flowers. Hence, vegans prefer nectar because no animals are involved in the production.

Are you enjoying life’s nectar down to the last drop?

A Glimpse in the Rearview Mirror

Willa loves to stick her head out the window when we drive. Looking back in the mirror, I see her gleefully catching some G-force!

In December we sold our commercial building in historic downtown Crystal Lake, Illinois. My last day in the structure was yesterday — December 31, 2012.

Just prior to that, one of my friends — artist, Donna Jill Witty — gifted me with a beautiful watercolor rendition of HolEssence so that I could always remember our building.

Another friend, Pat, asked, “Are you going to do any “hands on” energy-based therapy somewhere else?”

I shared with her that while the “hands on” aspect of things is now in the rearview mirror, looking forward my focus is on the “hearts on” aspect of things — the Life Harmony experience — something that I already do with clients all over the globe:

  • For people who use Mac’s, we enjoy one-on-one sessions via FaceTime
  • For people who use PC’s, we enjoy one-on-one sessions via Skype

In my experience, every year outdoes the previous one. If this trend continues,
I expect 2013 to top them all!

What’s in your rearview mirror?

Jumping through Mental Hoops – Swoosh!

Our brains—like muscles—become stronger with use. Excuses be gone! There are oh-so-many ways to exercise our brains:

  • The ever popular, jumping to conclusions.
  • Who among us hasn’t tried pushing their luck?
  • Dodging deadlines is always good for an extra shot of adrenaline!
  • There’s the time-tested jogging our memory.
  • Raising the bar of unrealistic expectations.
  • The tried-and-true limiting oneself by running out of options.
  • Stretching the truth forces us to keep double mental books—an especially vigorous workout for the brain!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood by Laurie Buchanan

With the advent of the World Wide Web, the concept of “neighborhood” is no longer limited to a geographically localized community. Rather, it’s global. On any given day I can—and do—communicate with Ted in New Zealand, Terrill in Canada, Sandi in Georgia, and many others as if we were having a conversation over the back fence.

With that in mind, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce 5 of the most recent additions to my blogroll—my internet neighborhood. I hope you’ll go knock on their doors and extend each of  them a hearty welcome.

“An activist is one who is actively involved in creating community, whether that is locally in their neighborhood or internationally. It is an admirable quality.”

Emerald Eyes, Isles, and Stones

Raw Emerald

One of my friends, Donna Jill Witty, recently returned from North Carolina where part of her time was spent gem mining near Ashville. Much to my surprise and delight, she gifted me with three raw pieces: emerald, sapphire, and citrine. Since green is my favorite color, emerald is the gemstone that I chose to highlight in this post.

But first, please follow this LINK so that I can introduce you to Donna Jill Witty and her amazing artwork. I’m tickled to share that she was featured in the current (summer 2010) edition of the American Artist Watercolor magazine. The article, Mixing Careful Planning with Spontaneity, starts on page 42.

Emerald
The frequency of Emerald is said to enhance harmony, joy, cleansing, abundance, clairvoyance, memory, and faith. It provides inspiration and helps those in need of balance, healing, and infinite patience. It also benefits intuition, intellect, communication, decision-making, and promotes truthfulness and honesty. It motivates the possessor to give love and wisdom to others. Emerald is used to enhance intuitive awareness and to bring forth manifestation. It’s a stone of protection and is associated with the heart chakra.
