There’s no doubt about it; I have a CAN DEW attitude! When I wake up in the morning and look at my ta-dah list, I think, Yes I can!
When Len and I eloped those many years ago, we both said, I DEW. And we have, for thirty-seven years.
When meeting people, we often ask, How DEW you DEW?
When our son was growing up, we knew if we said DEW as I say, a demand was less likely to be complied with than a pleasant request preempted with a “please” and a smile.
I like DEW better than do. To me, it seems friendlier, more amicable. This from the person who intentionally spells refridgerator with a “d” because it looks nicer.
Do you have a can dew attitude?
I love your play on words. Yes, I have a can dew attitude.
I don’t doubt it for a second! 👍
Darlene — I’m glad you enjoyed this post. And you know what? I K-N-E-W you have a Can Dew Attitude 🙂
Ha ha. I like that, Laurie. We too play with words and to this day we still use our son’s baby talk, words like flying pan and washing manin and the Peep peep is gonna go, referring to the smoke alarm when my coking gets out of hand: Isn’t that lovelyou? And yes, we can, like Obama said.
Fatima — Ohhhhhh, I loved what you shared here about your son’s baby talk! 🙂
I like playing with words, too. When I meet someone, I like to know how their names are spelled–Kathy or Cathy? Laurie or Lori? And of course, the famous “Anne with an e” from Anne of Green Gables. Our family has always made up words, too.
Merril — I’m glad you and yours have fun with words, too! It adds another layer of enjoyment to life 🙂
Not enough, looking at your examples. I’m going to try and adopt it. Thanks, Laurie!
Olga — You go, girl! 🙂
lovely photos! I’m big on always spelling correctly…but I love to find a woman with a seemingly common name, only to find out it is spelled MERRY. Changes everything!
Cindy — MERRY. I love it! 🙂
0ne of my mother’s favorite hymns begins: “I come to the garden alone. While the dew is still on the roses.” Something very spiritual about dew.
Shirley — I’m familiar with that beautiful hymn and not one bit surprised to learn that it was one of your mother’s favorites.
And I’d have to agree, there most definitely IS something spiritual about dew 🙂
Dew to you Ms Laurie, my life is some much more enriched for your Being who you are while offering the can dew attitude to all of your life…
Jeff — Aw shucks (now I’m blushing); thank you 🙂
We eloped, also! There was no way I could DEW a big wedding. No regrets here.
Loisajay — Great minds think alike! (no regrets here either) 🙂
I certainly dew have a can dew attitude! Lovely photos.
Sassy Brit — I admire your CAN DEW ATTITUDE!
I’m glad you enjoyed this photos.
Dew be, dew be, dew be, dew! I can’t keep up withyew
Audrey — If I had been drinking a beverage when I read your comment it would have shot out my nose with laughter! 🙂
It all depends how how things there are to DEW. If there is too much to DEW on my list I don’t DEW and leave it till tomorrow!
Joan — Leave the DEW ’til tomorrow. Yepper, some days that’s all you can DEW 🙂
Yes, yes I do have a can dew attitude. Sometimes a bit too much of it! Beautiful pictures….Tina
Tina — I’m not at all surprised that you have a CAN DEW ATTITUDE. And I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos; thank you for letting me know 🙂
I truly enjoyed your lovely photos and inspirational post, Laurie.
I think I have a can dew this way, that way or this other way attitude : )
Leanne — This way, that way, or the other, you’ve DEFINITELY got a CAN DEW ATTITUDE that I admire 🙂
Laurie, I can say I have a can DEW attitude because so far, things have been getting done. The days when I look at my Ta-Dah! and think “Oh, no…I can’t do this” sometimes turn out to be my biggest victory days. Because I lift myself from a comfortable sitting position and go do the Thing, whatever it is, and Boom! Another Ta-Dah! No one ever said I had to WANT to do it, you do it anyway. This morning I planted 60 baby okra seedlings – Ta-Dah!
Sandi — Sixty baby okra seedlings?! Ohhhhhh Lordy girl, you’re doin’ circles around my Can Dew Attitude 🙂
Oh love this post… A Can Dew attitude is certainly the key, never stop dewing ❤️🎶
Aquileana — Thank you for your smile-inducing comment 🙂
This is a bit like saying …excuse the spelling because I can never DEW it 🤣 ‘ SUPERCALLAFRAGALISTICESBEALLDOCIOUS’ mmmmmm. Feel better for that spelt wrong or right …I was taught I can DEW anything and anything I can DEW …tee hee . Thanks for making me laugh Laurie 😂😂
Cherryx
Cherry — And remember how we learned to sing it BACKWARDS watching Mary Poppins: Dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirupes.
Having a grand belly laugh this morning!
Love your “Ta da” list, Laurie. Makes it feel like fun. For me, dew is associated with quiet, solitude, and peace. And my Can Dew attitude is associated with energy. Hmmmm. Pondering.
Lovely play on words Laurie. 🙂
ReadInPleasure — I’m glad this post resonated with you 🙂
I dew! And I love yours. It’s so refreshing.
Lucinda — Of course you DEW! 🙂
I think I just might have a “can dew attitude” Laurie 😉 My latest red poppy painting came from a grey misty day by the sea. Today’s Creative Potager post tells the story of its dewing.
Terrill — I was over at your website this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the VIVID Red Poppy Seed Serenity you found in a gray day: https://creativepotager.com/2017/06/07/red-poppy-serenity-oil-painting/
Thank you for sharing the link here for others Laurie…. Your favourite kind of post too! 😉
Certainly this slant is one I do practice quite often. Sometimes I take it to extremes with OCD abandon of course, but much good can come out of enthusiasm too! 🙂
Sam — Hear, hear to ENTHUSIASM! 🙂
Love these photos. The Can Do (dew) attitude is critical for a writer. It’s so easy to give up. I got discouraged so many times after trying and trying to find the focus of my book; I’ve written tens of thousands of words that won’t be in the book. I’ve cut over 35,000 words after I wrote it start to finish. I credit my parents for the “Can Do” attitude, whether nature or nurture. Their stories, along with the racial change in our neighborhood, are told in “Redlined, A Memoir of Race and Change in 1960’s Chicago coming next April. They never gave up –not even after 2 riots and city disinvestment devastated our community, which still struggles to this day–50 years later!
Linda — I can HARDLY WAIT to read your book!
Thanks, Laurie! Sorry for the delay in responding.
In the immortal/mortal words of Manfred Mann, “Dew wha diddy diddy dum diddy dew.”
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Dennis — I can HEAR you 🙂
Dew I ever have a can-dew attitude! Sometimes my can-dew must be changed to a dew-less though…dewing less can sometimes mean accomplishing more. Does that many any sense at all? 🙂
Yikes…not it doesn’t…I mean MAKE any sense.
No, not not…time to stop dewing for today Laurie. When am I going to learn to proofread better before I click the ‘Post Comment” button.
TimelessLady — Now I’m laughing. Thank you! 🙂
TimelessLady — I understand exactly; it makes PERFECT sense 🙂
Can dew indeed.
We can dew any ting ifn we puts enough creativity into it.
Most of my life has been about exactly that – as you well know Laurie.
Ted — I’m pretty sure when we look up “CAN DEW” in the dictionary that we’ll see your photograph! 🙂
