Looking for Laurie

Somewhat like “Where’s Waldo?” I’m currently in hiding. Well, not hiding exactly, but on a three month sabbatical to finish writing my next book—The Business of Being.

I’ll be in this U.S. location—where I don’t know anyone, and no one knows me—until the last week of March. Social media visits will be rare as I plan to laser-focus on completing the manuscript. However, I’ve reserved Tuesdays to come up for air and visit with online friends here and on your blogs as well.

Hint #1 — I'm not in Palm Springs.

Hint #1 — I’m not in Palm Springs.

The latitude of my hideaway is 46.021587. Hang onto it because my final post from this location (Mar 28) will contain the longitude. Each post between now and then will include a different hint in the photo caption. The first person to type the accurate city and state of my sabbatical location into the comments section of the Mar 28 post will receive a personalized copy of Note to Self: A Seven-Step Path to Gratitude and Growth for themselves or as a gift to someone else.

Sometimes people say, “I’m going away to find myself.” I know exactly where I am, but do you?

  1. Clever! 🙂 I’d like to hope that you’ll end up in Hawaii – that’s where I’ll be next month, working on my next book of fiction…..If I can drag myself out of the sun. And from under the palm trees.
Best of luck to you, Laurie!!

  2. That sounds very exciting and I love the idea of the game with co-ordinates as we use them all the time during our travels. As for you final question, I am on a continuous journey, but still have no idea where the final destination will be.
I am glad you’ve kept your Tuesday as usual: I always look forward to your blogpost as they are very uplifting. Enjoy your trip! 👍💖

    • Leanne — I’ve got my laptop with an App that sounds like keys striking on a typewriter and the “ding” of the carriage return. I’m smokin’ the keyboard 🙂

Yours is a good guess 🙂

  3. As I wrote in my reply to your comment on my blog, I am sure all your Brain Colors will encourage your success sabbatical! Yes, I also know where I am and enjoying my personal and professional location!!

  4. Enjoy your adventure and great success ahead. I’ll be working on healing during your time away. Adding another Liangong class to the mix and doing the stationary bike while the rain crashes down On my own adventure!

  5. Here’s to sabbaticals and new environments to support writing. Now, that one location point is identified, the game is “a foot”. I am thinking of you and what would attract you. Wherever you are, I hope you are comfortable and enjoying the experience. Write on!

  6. Laurie, I know it’s not the North Pole, but it might as well be. I expect in three months time you’ll emerge from the Wilderness, waving a finished manuscript over your head and looking 40 lighter from forgetting to feed yourself. I know how determined you can be when you set a goal for yourself, make sure to cut yourself some slack and get outside to play!

    • Sandi — “I know it’s not the North Pole, but it might as well be.” You’re darn tootin!'”

Trust me, I won’t forget to feed myself. That’s something I enjoy as much as reading and writing 🙂

  7. Good luck on finishing your next book. I’m doing the same with my next Beyond mystery novel -but from home in snow, wind, rain, ice, and all the other winter crap. But I like to write in my home office. At ;east I get some exercise with shovelling snow but I’d rather garden.

  8. I was going to say Darby, Montana, too, since Google suggested it, except since this was already said–here’s a second guess. Between Helena and Bozeman, Montana. Is that close enough? Enjoy your retreat–it’s certainly an opportunity to drop away the clutches of the world and to more deeply discover “being”.

  9. Only you would turn a period of solitude into an excuse for community. Congrats on locating yourself in a good place, with good boundaries protecting your work, and with a whole group of curious, cheering fans. Only one Laurie. Go girl.

  10. I hope the writing is going well and that it’s Montana and not above the Arctic Circle. Stay warm and keeping pecking at the keys. We all want to read the next book!

  11. I actually got out my atlas today. I’m hooked. Will be looking forward with renewed energy to your Tuesday posts (and pix). Walla Walla keeps going through my mind, btw. My very best wishes to you in your time of solitude and work.

    • Cherry — My fingers are smokin’ the keyboard here in my undisclosed location, and I’m loving every minute of it!

And while you may not know who/where you are, I do. You’re an AMAZING human being who adds a great deal of positivity to your side of the pond! 🙂

  15. Oooh a game, Gary likes games! Let’s see I’m ruling out the south with your chilling pictures, the midwest because the hill/mountain in the background would stand out like a sore thumb in Indiana. Hmmmmmmmmmmm going to have to get the detective staff on this!

  16. Fairbanks, Alaska? Antartica? hahaha! It sure looks like the perfect place to remain incognito. Trust all is going well my friend! Your dedication and resilience is always an inspiration!
