Reader, Reader, Wherefore Art Thou?

On a recent bicycle ride we pedaled out to the Idaho Shakespeare Festival grounds, home to Idaho’s premier professional repertory theatre company where they perform in a world-class, outdoor amphitheater beside the Boise River.

Shakespear Theater 1

The name Shakespeare immediately brought to mind a line from the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet:

“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name.”

With our recent move, wefore art in Boise, Idaho at the following geographic longitude and latitude coordinates: 43.6167° N, 116.2000° W. And we love it!

In the grand scheme of things, wherefore art thou?

  1. Laurie, I couldn’t give you my exact co-ordinates at present but I can tell you I am blissfully at home in my tiny, N. Ga. community. A beautiful late Spring morning stretches ahead as I prepare to go into the day armed with shovel and trowel, trays of seedlings already in my truck. Have yourself a glorious day!

    • Sandi – Shovel, Trowel, and Trays of Seedlings — that’s the type of “weaponry” I wish all countries would “arm” themselves with. The world would certainly be more beautiful as a result 🙂

  2. Laurie, the blue sky outside my window is not quite as deep as the sky in Idaho. We’re have a glorious time in NYC. 40.27127 N and 74.0059 W. Last night a free concert at St. John the Divine with the New York Symphony. Today the MoMA and the Cloisters and a book reading. I get to read about Vicky Martinez here in her city! Then BEA and then grandchildren/children visit. Is this heaven? I think so.

  3. Laurie, you have indeed chosen a beautiful new home. I just looked up our coordinates. We’re at 46.76 N and 88.45 W. Happy spring day to you!

  4. I remembered my theater days with this post!

I am blogging from Cebu City at the following coordinates 10.2833° N, 123.9000° E and we are having a wonderful summer night at 28°C.

    Have a wonderful week Laurie!

    • The Vanilla Housewife – I’m glad this post triggered a few fond memories. I love that you’re enjoying a wonderful summer night in your lovely geographic coordinates 🙂

  5. I am so happy for you and Len. The
pictures you’ve been sharing make me
want to relocate to Idaho as well.
Ken and I are loving our new home on St Simons Island, Ga. I’ve “come home
again” to the place I grew up.
    Blessings to you both!

    • Sylvia – I’m tickled pink that you and Ken are enjoying the bajeebers out of your new home on St. Simons Island, and that you’ve “come home again.” Blessings right back atcha! 🙂

  6. Our town’s name – Mountain Top – describes its location, as do these coordinates: 41 degrees 07′ 24″ N and 75 degrees 58′ 06″ W.

  7. I’m in SE Wisconsin; at 42.537775 latitude and -88.253951 longitude. For those needing a link, I used latlon.net

      • Can’t wait to see the boats again. A few friends are coming up from Chicago in a few weeks to celebrate my birthday and we are going to Lake Geneva. By the way, my niece Keegan will be going to cancer camp at the Williams Bay Conference Center next month; I believe you shared going there once as well for writing time.

      • Audrey – yes, Yes, YES! Keegan will absolutely love Williams Bay. I still keep her Zipped in the Pod, and will continue to do so until you tell me otherwise 🙂

    • Sorry the link should be latlong.net … by the way it is so wonderfully green here now. The rain is returning today. I’ve been so enjoying the return of the birds. On the way to a client meeting I observed (and gloried in) the flights of egret and cranes. Also love seeing the colorful presence of the red-winged blackbirds in the reeds near my house, finches at the feeders, and chirping of the birds.

      • Audrey – The birds you named are among my favorites. I especially enjoy the colorful splendor of the epaulettes on the shoulders of red-winged blackbirds 🙂

  8. In lieu of coordinates, I will tell you that my cushion is hot under my writing chair where I’m composing a new post. I am trying hard to find a writer’s critique group to help with memoir in my area, but the best one is full at the moment. So I shall proceed to Plan B. Where art thou, you ask? Thankful for my online friends and ability to enjoy the writing life just now. In a few minutes: Pilates class to work out the kinks!

  9. You have moved closer to my end of the continent! Although it is north of you in Canada! The coordinates 51.189°N 114.467°W are a small town with a view of the Rocky Mountains! You will be busy exploring and settling into you new home. What an adventure!

  10. Sounds like a winning place to be! I just returned from a writing conference in Pittsburgh late yesterday and am glad to be back in my little bit of heaven right here. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, flowers are blooming, filling the air with sweet frangrance. There’s nothing like home!

    • Joan – I hope to read all about your time at the writing conference in your blog. I love the ingredients you attributed to home—our own little bit of heaven: sun, birds, and the sweet fragrance of flowers.

  11. Your continued explorations in your new paradise are yielded more and more wonderments. The Shakespeare Festival site is something I would REALLY appreciate, and it is further proof of how culturally diverse Boise is. Well, I reside in a New Jersey borough called Fairview, and it’s just minutes (literally) from the George Washington and a small little hub knows as NEW YORK CITY. In any case, so great to see Boise is a real cosmopolitan kind of place, while still of a rustic essence.

  12. Geographically…
I’m in one of my most favourite places–balanced on a ball, in front of my solid oak writing desk, facing a view of Mayne Island (a remote island off B.C.’s mainland)
    Emotionally…
I’m soaring amongst those clouds that captured so beautifully in your photo. I love those colours–like tie-dye

  13. Hi, Laurie — Physically, I am about 30 miles northeast of Ground Zero . . . also known as Washington D.C. Mentally, I am a bit south of Sharpsville today, having spent most of yesterday indulging in a Star Trek mini-moviefest. Emotionally, I am headed west into some adventures to finish up with stuff through The Presence Process, a book recommended to me. Spiritually, I think I will spend some time in the east, taking advantage of meditation, prayer, and practice.

  14. Laurie, I am in the middle of what you are not changing, you are choosing. Thanks for the call to find “wherefore art thou.

  15. Hi Laurie,
At home in Kaikoura right now – Location: 42°25.123’S 173°41.626’E
Going out to a Lions working bee at the site of our new local hospital in 15 minutes. From there I go to a meeting of the Lyell Creek streamcare group, and from their to chairing a 4 hour meeting of the Kaikoura Zone water management committee.
Ailsa is in Christchurch attending a meeting on caring for birds and ecosystems dependent on our braided river valleys.
I should be back home about 5pm.
Had 9 hours sleep last night, the first decent nights sleep in about 3 weeks, so feeling really good right now.
Love the fact that we live in this beautiful place, in this caring community.
Cautiously optimistic for the future of humanity, a future of abundance and health and freedom for all – that should materialise over the next 15 years.
Happy to be a member of this and many other communities online, and thankful for my many online friends, particularly yourself, Len, Sandi and Lulu here.
Have BBC “Hard Talk” with the German finance minister in the background, and the sight of about 20 sparrows feeding on the wheat I put out for them every morning, and a few waxeyes at the fat ball and half apple that are out for them, with the bay and the snow covered mountains as backdrop. A lovely sunny autumn morning. Brisk!
So pleased that you and Len love where you are – such an important attribute to cultivate in life!

    • Ted – Ohhhhh, I just loved reading the details you shared. I can fully picture you and Ailsa living and contributing right in the geographical gem that you live in and enjoy so very much 🙂

  16. I am out of the oral surgeon s chair with a splint in my mouth and reading in my favorite chair – thankfully the writing is good but the vampire theme only appeals to few.
The splint is apple red and the tech added sparkles for fun. !
Maybe I took a bite out of someone! Haha! 🐞🐌

  17. You may not read this because it’s so late ‘where fore art thou’ do you think I have been yes to the half house with still no internet …I miss it so much. Anyway back now . At the mo we live about an hour’s drive to Stratford- upon – Avon the home of Shakespeare and have seen many productions there… great for the winter months . Midsummer night dream preformed out doors on a hot not is wonderful but unfortunately in England it is usually raining . We have learned to cope the weather lol
    Back as usual on Tuesday
    Cherryx
