The ABCs, or rather EFTs, of Healing

It’s been almost two years since I posted Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – A Universal Healing Aid. That makes today the ideal time to revisit the topic as my blogging friend Sonal Pandey, author of Tap Easy—an EFT-oriented blog—is hosting a giveaway. One lucky winner will receive a free DVD, The Tapping Solution.

For those of you who may not know, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an energy-based therapy that’s provided thousands of people with relief from pain, diseases, and emotional baggage. Simply stated, it’s an emotional version of acupuncture—except needles aren’t necessary.

Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and it’s portable so you can do it anytime, anywhere.

I encourage you to head over to the Tap Easy Giveaway Page and sign up for your chance to win this DVD that explores the many facets of EFT and teaches you about releasing pain, about the body-mind connection (how our emotions affect our body), how to clear limiting beliefs, and much more!

Coincidentally, the 2012 Tapping World Summit—a free online event on EFT and meridian tapping—is May 7−16.

Have you ever done EFT before?

  1. I have done EFT before, Laurie, although not extensively. It is wonderful that there are modalities such as this that help people in more natural ways than much of modern medicine. In your practice, how often do you use EFT?

    • Kathy – I my personal practice, I do this each evening as I’m going to bed (just before I do my distance work). I my practice at HolEssence, it depends on the client, but I recommend it often because it’s a wonderful fishing pole to be able to give (so that don’t have to come back for more fish)…

  2. Wow, this is fascinating, Laurie. I have never hearf of EFT, but it sound intriguing. Alternate means of healing have long tugged for my attention, but I’ve not explored as fully as I’d like. Thanks for sharing this.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

  3. Laurie, I did not know exactly what EFT was but the term entered my life 3 times in the past week. I accidentally clicked on a link where EFT was listed. I went to a business breakfast meeting last Wed. and the speaker mentioned EFT. Today I got your email. I can take a hint from the universe so I signed up for Sonal’s blog.

  4. Yes I have done EFT (electronic funds transfer) just yesterday when I was paying the bills. Attempt at being funny here! I have been using a pattern my Naturopathic Physician taught me for liver healing this past year; she is also an acupuncturist. It has been very helpful – I was not helped by the attempts I made before just from the internet..I think having a hands on session was vital to me getting the feel and rhythm.
    Nice reminder Thank you.

  5. I haven’t gotten into EFT myself, but Ailsa did. She ended up attending a couple of conferences internationally, and doing quite a bit of work with it over several years, so I picked up quite a bit by osmosis.

  6. Perfect timing for your EFT post Laurie. The annual EFT summit is currently in progress. Last years gathering brought over a quarter million tappers together. . . . a good sign that something is working. Meridian-based therapies are all fabulous in my opinion. I was certified in Thought Field Therapy (the root of EFT) back in 02. I find EFT to be an even easier modality for the removal of energetic debris.

  7. I might have heard of EFT before in passing, Laurie, but I’ll have to follow your links and learn more about it now. I remember my old naturopath getting me to do the “thymus tap” first thing in the mornings– maybe it’s related to EFT?

    • Dana – Yes, the K-27 points are located just below the center of the collar bone. By tapping and/or massaging the K-27 points while breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth (for about 20 seconds) you can:
      (1) recharge your energy if you’re feeling drowsy,
      (2) focus if you’re having difficulty concentrating, or
      (3) flip your energy around if it’s flowing backwards.

Some people tap there with both hands, but I use one hand and tap on the K-27 points with the thumb and fingers of my right hand.

  8. I am actually reading a book right now called “Tapping the Healer Within” by Dr. Callahan. It is an interesting concept, but from what I have read so far, he uses this techniques with other forms of more traditional psychotherapy to help one get over fears and other ailments. I am only to the 2nd chapter but definitely a ‘like’ so far….you might pick it up and read it!

  9. Laurie, I have never done EFT before, but am both fascinated and heartened by such a wondrous maneuver. I will indeed click on the links to the DVD of how to employ it and to that on-line summit event report. Release from emotional baggage is an intangible that can never be underestimated in today’s world.

  10. I’ve never done this as regularly as you do it, Laurie, so thank you for reminding me about it. I do set aside time for meditating, journaling, exercising each day – my gosh you can keep yourself pretty busy with all this stuff so adding more is tough for me to do with any regularity. Any advice?
    Hugs

    • SuZen – EFT makes a wonderful “twofer” — it’s something you can do while you’re doing something else: You can tap while you’re in the shower, waiting for something in the microwave, having a phone conversation, waiting to fall asleep in bed, or commuting to/from work 🙂

  12. This post was written around the time I found EFT Tapping, and eight years later, it’s still one of my favorite tools for fixing emotional problems. Like you say Laurie, the best part is that it’s portable and we can do it anywhere at anytime, though it does look weird if we do it in public 🙂
