MASTER NUMBER 11
The Path of the Dreamer

Master Number 11 is a highly charged version of the Life Path 2. All of the characteristics that apply to a 2 also apply to an 11, only in a more magnified way.

As a Master Number 11, you have the potential to be a source of inspiration and illumination to a wide brushstroke of people. Individuals with this Life Path rely on their instinct—they’re intuitive. In fact, you’re the most intuitive of all numbers. It’s your special connection to your subconscious, gut feeling, and knowledge without rationality. You’re energetically sensitive and have a great understanding of others. You intuit a great deal about what’s going on behind the scenes. You’re here to use your gifts of intuition and sensitivity to help others.

Because the number 11 has all the qualities of the 2 (1 + 1 = 2) the negative points of the number—anxiety, shyness, and stressed energy—are balanced out by the 2’s qualities of charisma and divine inspiration.

The Shadow Side
Remember it’s a choice—we can choose to walk in sunshine or shadow; in light or dark.

When not focused on a goal beyond themselves, the Master Number 11 person can be turned inward—creating fears and phobias. The 11 walks the edge between greatness and self-destruction. Your potential for growth, stability, and personal power lies in your acceptance of intuitive understanding, and of spiritual truths. For the 11, such peace is not found so much in logic, but in faith.

The danger of the 11 is that you need to be focused on a concrete goal—when you’re not attached to a specific aspiration, you experience anxiety and fear. You’re extremely powerful and capable of great things, but can also be self-sabotaging when not using the highly charged vibration of 11 correctly.

If you’re a Master number 11, tap into it and use it to create personal power and spiritual evolution. Don’t deny your instincts—let your inner, guiding voice push you toward a great goal.

  1. I actually can envision phobias as a shadow side of one with acute intuitive abilities. That quite a lineup of people who certainly commanded personal power in their spheres.

    Whale Point is magnificent!

  3. Laurie, I’ve been saving all of the Life Path number posts into one document, and I am really grateful to you for putting this information out there. I have been wanting to study more about numerology for some time now, and I really appreciate this wealth of information!

  4. I recognize these characteristics within myself, both the illuminated and shadow sides. The two sides can even walk together at times. As Sam said, the photo is lovely. I can feel the “Number 11” energy of the waves!

  5. I was so excited to read this write up because my sister, my brother, and one of my children is a 29/11 I can see some similarities to your write up and also some great gaps…I went back and read 2
The hot and cold part rings true…my sister is anxious and extremely abusive to me (verbally) and my brother is either an amazing person who covered up by being a closet alcoholic or dislikes himself so much he is just a fool with money and trying to buy friends and appear wonderful…

I am more interested in this for my child, because I think there is hope for her to turn out wonderful, but she is so incredibly awful to me…and just okay with money.

They are all so afraid I am trying to control them and of people controlling them???

I feel like this only barely touches the surface of what I want to know.

    Thanks for sharing this

  6. Hi, Laurie, I am with Leanne, things are pretty intense already for me, no point in adding fuel to the fire. This is where I jump off the train! Still, very interesting to know. We have a lovely full moon shining down and I have singing cats in my back yard. Sounds like Spring to me. BTW, not my cats.

  7. Hi Laurie,

My birthday is July 7, 1986. With some life path calculations, I get a life path of 11; but with others, I get a life path of 2. I’m not sure which one I am, but honestly, every life path 11 description I have read is completely accurate of me – I am extremely intutive and very spiritual and want to be a life coach to inspire people to live their potential. I haven’t really been able to relate to descriptions of life path 2 as much as 11 – because I’m very introspective and prefer solitary contemplation. I was just wondering if you could tell me what you think my life path number is – 2 or 11 – and which way is the correct way of calculating life path number. Thank you so much.

    – RJ

    • RJ – With the birth date of 07-07-1986 you are, indeed, a Master Number 11.

It’s good to remember that Master Number 11 also shares the traits of a Life Path 2. Likewise, Master Number 22 shares the traits of Life Path 4, and Master Number 33 shares the traits of Life Path 6.

    • Sumit – Just because something’s written in our Life Path number (or Zodiac sign, for that matter) doesn’t mean that it’s our fate/destiny. If there’s an aspect of you that you’d like to change or overcome, then by all mean — apply yourself to the task. Nothing is written in stone (so to speak).

Many people are familiar with my personal philosophy: “Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.” Again, if there’s something you want to change, then so be it 🙂

  8. Hi Laurie, I just stumbled onto your numerology posts and was blown away by how accurately they seem to describe me (and my partner)! Thank you for this wealth of information. I hope I can channel this newfound knowledge and stay on the “brighter” side of my Life Path 11! Cheers!

  9. I’ve read some reports that say I’m a 2 but also others that say I am an 11. I honestly don’t know, haha!! I feel I’m more 11 only b/c I’m extremely psychic and have had a difficult life &, I’ve always been interested in humanitarian efforts. Anyway, my birth date is 11-29-79. What do you think? Thanks again. 😉

  10. Oh, thanks so much! 😉 I don’t get why some people feel they need to reduce every number that isn’t a master number. When you do it this way, I appear to be a 2 like on http://seventhlifepath.com/ Makes no sense to me, but this does, thanks. ;))!!

  11. Hi – thanks so much for posting this, it describes everything to a ‘T’. I do feel very lost all the time, and a lot of this is making sense as to why. A friend of mine the other day text me that she wanted to see what life path number I am and said I’m 11 (I confirmed on my own as well). I read also that 11s are late bloomers and do not really reach where they want to be until between ages 35-45? Is this true?

    • Shauna – Any of the Master Numbers (11, 22, and 33) have a tendency to be late bloomers, with 11 being a bit more likely to fall into this category.

Please note: “late bloomer” is not a negative thing, at all. In fact, people, places, and things that bloom late tend to outlast the rest of us 🙂

    • Yes it is! I’m 46 and just now, i get it! It’s like i have awakened… And I understand now why i went through all i did.
      It’s really incredible.
And if you come to think about it we are the only ones that can understand us, cause nobody else can!

  12. I think it is important to note that although one may get the opportunity to attain the power of a master number (from a life path calculation), from my experience, few will display it. It indeed is a double edged sword as you describe and only a select few go on to demonstrate its full capacity and rather live a 2 vibration.

    Peace,
    David (18/06/1985)

  13. Ahhh yes, the blessed 11… it’s not easy.
I am living on the dark side of the 11. And although I can envision the great potential, I am riddled with fear and ambiguity. Is there hope? Yes! We are SlllOooow growers…I am only 23, and so I have a wee bit of time (Lol). I just hope that things pick up soon!
Intense? Astronomically; but for all that an 11 is intense, there is profound beauty in us. When we finally find our place there’s no stopping us!
One day at time. I’m hurting, but I have faith that all will be well. I’m here to carry a message….the most profound of messages are birthed from the most jarring of experiences. *sigh* Lol

  14. Hi Laurie..This is my first time to visit your website and got into this. My bday is 1986-08-24..If you will add the digits, you’ll get 38 at first. Adding 3 and 8 will give you 11 and finally 2 at the end. Does this one count as Master 11? Thanks…

  15. Great article, Laurie!
But, what do you mean by “If you’re a Master number 11, tap into it and use it to create personal power and spiritual evolution.” – what do you mean by “tap into it?” how? meditation? if so, what kind of meditation. How do I use it to create good around me for others and for myself?

    • Zoly – You’ve posed several questions. Each and every one of us, regardless of our life path number, has everything we need to know already residing inside. The number of ways to tap into that are as many as there are people. I can’t tell you how to get at what’s inside you…but since you said meditation, quite possibly that’s a way for you. As for creating good for those around you…the intersection of how you think (logic) and how you feel (emotion) is your heart; a place of wisdom (not book knowledge, but wisdom). That’s where you’ll find the answer to unleashing that creative potential.

  16. Great Article! I had been looking up numerology articles on the internet, when I discovered that I have a life path 11, an expression number 11. When you add the two up, you get a maturity number 22. I feel its so much more than mere co incidence that I have both life path and expression number 11. Could you elaborate on what does it mean to have both in your chart, or can I just overlook the maturity number as insignificant?

    • AJ – My perspective in a nutshell is that people who have 11, 22, or 33 in their numerological makeup have a heightened responsibility to contribute that which is positive, uplifting, constructive, and healing.

  17. Hey Laurie i just stumpled across your site, and i wanted to ask you about my 11, Life path, 11, Expression and 11, soul urge. Does this combination mean anything special???

      • Thx 🙂

        is associated with the zodiac?

I saw the crescent moon this afternoon

      • HLS – Many people take their Zodiac into account (along with their Life Path and/or Master Number) when they are looking closely at their life.

For example, I’m a Life Path 5 and a Libra. That helps me to know what positive changes I need to make to be the best version of me as possible 🙂

  18. Eleven (11) really?…

According to numerology and from a spiritual perspective, 1 is the number of creation, the primal force from which all other numbers spring forth (as opposed to the often quoted zero from which, by definition, nothing could possibly come into being).

Well going further 1 +1= 2… 2 is a symbolic representation of the ultimate survivor and an extremely resilient force, the most feminine among all numbers

Great post. Thanks for sharing dear Laurie.
All the bets to you, Aquileana 😀

  19. Since I discovered numerology a couple years ago, I’ve had trouble determining if I’m a 2 or 11 because of the different ways of calculating. But 11 is such a great number, because it’s my birth month! I feel much more like an 11 than a more meek-sounding 2. I know I have musical gifts to inspire the world, I am confident and I have big aspirations.

    Am I 11? November 25, 1973.

    • Jonso — With a birth date of November 25, 1973, you are a Master Number 11. Please remember that ALL Master Numbers additionally have the characteristics of their corresponding Life Path Number:
Master Number 11 also has the characteristics of Life Path 2
Master Number 22 also has the characteristics of Life Path 4
Master Number 33 also has the characteristics of Life Path 6

  20. I born jan.25,1974 and Im aquaruis/tiger in astrology and 29/11 in numerology. Very true that im a healer and maybe true that person in this number are intuitive n fearless, as i grow up alone, i can tell that until nobody knows the exact me. Negative n positive have dual personality, we are attractive n magnetism, we can be friends any kind of person in society, but we are disturbance in the lives of people close to us cause of their enviousness, every person they want to monopolize us and they do not want us to have others except them.
Because we are independent and hardheaded, cause of our kindness most of the time we choose to be alone, i guess sometimes we are prone of gossip n harmful and never stop the challenges in our life.
If if i have option, I should choose to come out on this world not the same date the day i was born.
But sometimes the full of challenges I encounter in life, I can tell that im very strong person cause until now, im still alive n still ready to conquer my next challenge.

  21. Controling my vibration is the hardest thing ive ever done in life and i still suck at it lol. The good news….i can feel the fear and anxiety coming before it arrives so i have time to redirect. Im almost 37 and ive wasted sooo much time out of tune that i feel opportunities are narrowing down. Im still super excited to see what the future holds.
