LIFE PATH 8
The Path of the Warrior

If you missed the post on how to calculate your Life Path number, simply click HERE.

You’re gifted with natural leadership and the capacity to accumulate great wealth—should you so desire. You attract financial success more than any other Life Path, but effort is required—should you so desire.

You have the capacity for management in all areas of life, especially in business and financial matters—should you so desire.

Fame, power, and fortune are the three corners of your crown—should you so desire.

A great connoisseur of the finer things in life, you especially appreciate the arts—visual, performing, language, and culinary. Your home is generally a showplace of your interests, yet it expresses the warmth of your personality and charm.

You understand the material world and intuitively know what makes virtually any enterprise work. Your talent lies with the greater vision, its purpose, and long-range goals. You possess the ability to inspire people to join you in your quest—should you so desire.

Business, finance, real estate, law, science (particularly history, archeology, and physics), publishing, and the management of large institutions are among the vocational fields that suit you best. You’re naturally attracted to positions of influence and leadership—politics, social work, and teaching are among the many other areas where your abilities can shine—should you so desire.

As a leader and a teacher—a person who influences—those in your sphere of influence need your continual guidance, inspiration, and encouragement. You must prod them into action and direct them along the lines of your vision.

With such ability, you’d do well to align yourself with large groups or organizations; the larger the group, the larger your rewards, whether financial or spiritual. A great sense of what is right helps you to direct your efforts. Your interest in philanthropic organizations can be extremely useful to them because you have the ability to draw to them what many others can’t—accomplishing so much more.

You’re very perceptive and understand human nature. As such, you have profound sympathy for people less fortunate than you. Courage is one of your greatest assets and you display it often in fighting for equal rights for all mankind. The underdog is your pet project. Your lifetime is spent in lending a hand to anyone who needs it, and that which is given is always returned many-fold.

Material things will be yours without much effort—should you so desire—but your happiness will also be spiritual in the knowledge that you’ve accomplished something unique by sheer dint of your ability.

The Life Path 8 suggests that you entered this plane armed to lead, direct, organize, and govern. You’re endowed with tremendous potential for conceiving far-reaching schemes and ideas, and also possess the tenacity and independence to follow them through to completion. In short, you were born to be an executive.

You know how to manage yourself and your environment. Your ability to judge the character and potential of the people around you is an asset. Your inspirational quality goes a long way toward engaging them in your endeavors—a special trait not to be overlooked.

The Life Path 8 produces many powerful, confident, and materially successful people. A large part of their success comes from how hard they work. Take care, this Life Path is the most prone to producing workaholics. You may be very much in love, but watch that you’re not too busy and preoccupied to show it. You must make time for love and nurture it.

The Shadow Side
The negative 8 can be dictatorial and often suppresses the enthusiasm and efforts of fellow members of the environment. The strength of their own personality can exclude close feelings for other people with whom they come in contact.

Material gains and rewards often become issues of utmost importance, even to the neglect of family, home, and peace of mind. Dedication to success can become an obsession.

Emotional feelings are often suppressed by the negative 8, resulting in isolation and loneliness. All Life Path 8 people must avoid discounting the opinions of others.

      • Hello Leanne..all my core numbers except personality no and soul urge no are 8. Personality no is 6 and soul urge is 2. 2 DOES NOT like to lead, is shy and behind the scenes, 6 is all about home, relationships and nurturing. There’s obviously some conflict here. Any ideas? :):)

      • Floss – What you didn’t say is if you are filled with joy and have peace of mind. If the answer is yes, then I wouldn’t give the “conflict” a second thought. If the answer is no, that’s when I’d start investigating if I was living the life I was meant to. And if not, alter course.

      • Hey thanks for the reply :P. I just came on here to check if you’d gotten my message. I’ve asked myself many a time if I was REALLY living for ME or just doing what others wanted. There are some current restrictions but I’m content at the moment though I would like to do more with my life and get somewhere, which probably is a very unoriginal statement but that’s where I am right now. As for peace of mind and joy, I’m getting there I suppose with positive thinking and daily meditation

  1. Good one to read but not my numbers. I wonder how all this financial abundance comes to people? Here I can see that it is related to the great effort the people put in.

I have a friend who is an 8 and this just sounds so like her except finances are very difficult for her – there is just enough not an abundance and this produces worry – in both of us!

    Thank you

  2. Oh boy, now this is amazing Laurie! I am an 8, and so much of it rings true in a big way, I am an organizer, I sometimes attempt to lead, and I have an outgoing personality with many of the attributes expressed here. yet the debits also ring true to a fair extent and are scary!! Whew!

    Here, for example:

“The negative 8 can be dictatorial and often suppresses the enthusiasm and efforts of fellow member of the environment. The strength of their own personality can exclude close feelings for other people with whom they come in contact.

Material gains and rewards often become issues of utmost importance, even to the neglect of family, home, and peace of mind. Dedication to success can become an obsession.”

I am not one who looks for montary rewards, but perhaps with some other aspects broached here.

God is this scary, but it’s a wake-up call of sorts too!

    • Sam – I was hoping the Life Path 8 information would resonate with you, and I’m glad that it did – even eerily so 🙂 The monetary aspect falls in the “should you so choose” category. For some 8’s that’s very strong, for others, not in the least. Thank you for your visit.

  3. My daughter, Bethany, is an 8, Laurie. This is so much like how she can be, if she chooses. When she is being herself, she and I get along wonderfully. I am going to print this out and mail it to her. She will love it.

  4. Laurie, I was looking for Donald Trump’s name and found Martha Stewart’s. Maybe it means 6 of one or half a dozen of another. This sure sounds like people I have known but would never have the gall to ask for their number.

    • Sandi – Just like almost everything, there’s a sunny side and a shadow side — with Life Path numbers the choice is ours. Interestingly, Donald Trump — born June 14, 1946 — is a Master Number 22. We’ll be getting to Master Numbers 11, 22, and 33 very shortly. Stay tuned…

  5. Ms. Laurie, I wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the “most stylish blogger award!” See my latest post for your shout out and pay it forward! I hope you aren’t still snowed in! 🙂

  6. I read this one with great interest, too, as my older son and daughter are both 8s. Both fit the description well, and are far more ambitious and motivated than their father or me. Our daughter is a social worker who is also very good at prodding people into action, even us, her parents. And our son is good at conceiving far-reaching schemes and ideas, much to our amazement at times. It’s been rewarding and interesting watching them create remarkable lives for themselves, so different from ours.

  8. Hello! First time reading your blog (sent over from Lake Superior Spirit). I’m an 8 and have to admit, the negatives don’t really ring true with me. Don’t get me wrong…I love the idea that I’m supposed to actually have money some day! But my weaknesses (and many strengths) are more like those of a 2. How the heck do I make sense of myself? 🙂

    • Celeste – Welcome to Speaking from the Heart. Any friend of Kathy’s is a friend of mine 🙂 Please know that sometimes the personality traits of Life Path numbers and/or Zodiac signs just don’t seem to mesh. I hope that you’ll come back and visit – we touch on a wide brushstroke of topics.

  9. My daughter and her dad are both 8. I’m a 3. It was interesting reading them. They were dead on.

What I was wondering was it says that 8s find a challenge with 3s. How does this affect the relationship between mother and daughter growing up and what are something I should be aware of.

    • Kadie – There will be the normal challenges that crop up between children (emerging adult) and parents, but knowing in advance that it might be slightly magnified, you can prepare yourself in advance with extra doses of patiences, understanding, and flexibility. In our home we practice intentional kindness (being kind on purpose). That simple concept went a long way toward keeping things smooth during our son’s growing up years.

  10. This is extremely interesting. My numbers add up to an 8. But that just doesn’t fit… although, of course, bits and pieces and chunks of all the numbers do fit me in some way (although I am definitely not a 9 either). However, when I read #1 and #7 I wrote a big YES on my notepad next to both of them. And, of course, 7 + 1 = 8. I guess the 8 is me after all!

  11. Hi Laurie – thanks so much for this post, it’s very enlightening. I read something similar a while back, so it’s a great refresher and an eye-opener. Many traits described here are right on for me.
My hubby turned out to be a 3, which explains certain tensions we have sometimes – mostly about money and his direction in life… how typical for 3. I was smiling with a tender smile when I read the #3 description though. He’s not artsy or overtly entertaining (it’s more my job), but he is a totally positive sweetheart and everyone loves him and wants him around for his friendly disposition and loving nature. And there’s that “who cares” attitude too, unfortunately.
I guess I need to practice more of your “intentional kindness” around him and count my blessings. 🙂

Sorry for the long comment, but this was really great!

    Hugs,
    Lada 🙂

  12. Hey, my mom is number 8 and she is great, too nice, she gives all the time even when there is no need to give. I thought it might be because of the need to control everything, then she would have the giving on the other hand to give back or pressure people to do what she wants in return ! but I kinda in between now ! however, when she gets too close to her kids, she feels the need to know everything in their life and make them get her dreams come true ! cuz she didnt get to achieve her dreams ! so now she thinks its her kids’s job to achieve what she didn’t! cuz of cultural circumstances. But another problem is when she gets too close with her kids, she wants them all hers and home with her at all times, like no spending nights out ! way over protective and closed minded which she forces her opinion on her kids ! i understand its a cultural thing bc she’s in her 50’s now, but i was wondering if it has smth to do with her life path number which is 8 ! btw, she’s a Sagittarius too !

My brother is 8 too, and he has this thing in common with my mom, where he has to know everything going on in other’s lifes, and call it out. to be the way he wants them exactly to be, but he still very different than my mom. I’m guessing that’s because of his horoscope sign is different than my mom’s.

Another thing, my mom is 8 (Sagittarius), my dad is 5(scorpio), my sisters are 9(taurus), 11(sagittarius), my brothers are 8(virgo), 7(aquarius), and finally i’m 5(capricorn).

How does that all work together ? good or bad ?

and does it effect that my dad and I have the same life path number? and how?, I read that its the most powerful two numbers together, but it doesn’t really seem like it !

and again, does it effect that my brother and my mom share the same life path number which is 8? and how ? in what way ?

    thanks 🙂

  13. I am an 8 but I am not – I mean this is the description of the person I have always wished to be. I wonder how do you actually go out and LIVE your life path? My dreams are so much bigger than my reality.

    • Dina — I believe that “Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.” With that in mind…

…If you want to live the authentically live the life of a Life Path 8, then make the changes (few or many) that offer you the clearest path to be and live the best possible version of you as possible 🙂

  14. Hey laurie, i enjoyed your post its spot on!
I heard somewhere that the lord saturn also plays an important role in 8’s destiny, if its posited in its own sign in 10th house is it good or not?
