Butt Weary!

You thought there’d be an Energy Medicine 101 class today, didn’t you? Well, I’d like you to play a little hooky and join us on a bicycle ride that we took yesterday – July 5th.

You see, I needed a reward. A big reward! I kept my butt glued to my desk chair and wore my busy-bee blinders all weekend working to meet a deadline – the one where I had to recreate 113 of the pages that are on the dead hard drive (no we haven’t heard anything yet). I met the deadline and the material is winging its way to my editor at UW-Wisconsin as we speak.

A cause for celebration! So whip out your bicycles and join us as we fly along at a brisk pace. Remember to bring along some water because this is a ten mile ride.

I asked myself over the weekend, “Laurie, would you still work this hard on the manuscript and the articles you write if you knew that you’d never, ever be published?” Would you like to know how I responded? “You’re darn tootin’ I would!” I’m not reserving joy for the destination; I’m fully enjoying the journey.

I hope you enjoyed the ride – we sure did! More importantly, I hope you’re enjoying the journey.

Listen with your heart,

Laurie Buchanan

  1. Laurie, and Len,

Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us. I am glad that you Laurie gave your self a healthy reward, for getting you writing done and in for the dead line! Wonderful. You truly are an inspiration, an example in choosing the Higher Path through the drama of everyday life.

    Blessing to you!

    I am Love, Jeff

    • Good morning, Jeff – Once I pushed the “publish” button this morning, we hopped on our bikes and took a quick 1-hour ride. We just got back with rain nipping at our heels. We were going to ride to HolEssence this morning, but it appears that it may well be a vehicle day. Have yourself a good one!

  2. You ARE for fully enjoying the journey! You show it every day. You’ll jump on your bike and go play if someone but nudges you. Yet you have focused patient discipline in your creations, in your drinking lemon water, in your postings. Echoeing Jeff’s words! Have a great day.

    • Hi Kathy – glad to see you here this morning. I do feel a bit like “Atlas” this morning — in that I’ve shrugged the weight (deadline) of the world off my shoulders. Next deadline’s not until July 10th, and I can do that one in my sleep — piece of cake. Make it a fantastic day!

  3. Wow, I feel the passion!!
    I can’t open the pic’s yet…
    Maybe this morning!
I will save that for a treat later.

I bet it was a good ride. 1as it windy? Joe golfed and he said it was pretty windy.
Although he was at Golf Club of Illinois, not too many trees asit is a Scottish course.

Thanks for sharing the path with us.

    Kim

P.S…Thanks again for being there last Thursday afternoon!!

    • Good morning, Kim – most of the path (not all) is lined with trees so it makes for a nice wind break (and shade). We just got back this morning from an hour’s ride, with rain nipping at our heels. We’ll have to see if we’re biking or driving to HolEssence this morning. Have a great day!

  4. Laurie, Dave & I had a super bike ride on Monday, the Long Prairie Trail in Boone County. Lovely long stretches of covered path, beautiful scenery, and not much traffic!

    • Nan – Len and I will have to do that trail — it sounds beautiful! We’re thinking of taking our bikes up to Cedarburg, WI and riding around looking at the covered bridges (camera in hand).

  5. Opps I forgot to click the notify button on the bottom here, so I did not receive any notice of comments! My my, what’s guy gona do? Check for him self!

I am glad you got back in time before the rain, could you send some this way! Need to have rain dance before everything catches fire. Plus it has been in the high 90’s to 100’s and does not seem to want to let up!

    • Hi Jeff – consider yourself notified and the recipient of a comment. I’m so glad for your visit today. I hope you get some rain soon. Do you ever go bicycle riding?

    • Kim – Yes ma’am, you most certainly should put some air in those tires and try out a bike trail. Or maybe walk it first with OREOZ to check it out first and make sure it’s to your liking. Have a good night’s sleep.

  6. Laurie, what a great trail! The landscape is so very similar to what I grew up with in central Alberta….where I’m visiting right now, in fact. I’m glad you had such a lovely day. Well deserved from the sound of it. Thank you for sharing 🙂
We`ve explored parts of Indiana and loved their old covered bridges and the history surrounding them. Walking throught them felt as if we were stepping back in time. Everything seemed to slow down. Each one was quite different.
Have been enjoying Energy 101 but haven`t always been able to comment.

    • Colleen – I love covered bridges! Len and I have plans to take our bikes to Cedarburg, Wisconsin and ride around to see all of them that way (as opposed to car). I’ll definitely take my camera for that ride. I agree with you — they’re like stepping back in time. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Energy Medicine 101 sessions – I enjoy the conversation that it stirs. I’m glad you stopped by, thank you.

  7. What a beautiful ride! It looks like y’all had a ball, just cruising. It’s wonderful that you have such nicely kept trails to move one. We have one here in the Atlanta area called the Silver Bullet Trail, 50 miles, I don’t think I could make it. Thanks for sharing your fun!

    • Sandi – It was great fun! I have to agree with your that our bike paths are kept in really good condition — one of the ways our tax dollars are used. I wish they could maintain our driving roads as well. It’s a pretty good trick though with all of the salt and sand that’s used during the snow/ice laden winter months. The roads take a massive beating from all the plows to keep them clear. But the bike paths aren’t treated in the winter months so they stay really nice and smooth. I think you could do your Silver Bullet Trail in the fall when the humidity has left.
